Very Important Recall Notice Soon To Be
Released!
After a few months of speculation and
hear-say, it does appear as if the mass-motor
recall is going to happen. So far it appears
as if all 04,05 & early 06 models will be
recalled and tested for signs of major engine
failures...
August 21, 2006
Mazda plans a voluntary recall of all 2004 and
2005 RX-8 sports cars along with some 2006s
because of damage to the catalyst resulting
from oil leaks in the RX-8's rotary engine.
Mazda is preparing to replace the engines in
many of its top of the line sports cars as a
result of the recall. Any engine that does not
pass a specific vacuum test will be replaced
according to Mazda.
Engines prone to failing the vacuum test are
mostly in hot climates and use synthetic oils,
according to the automaker.

April & May Meets!
Once again I have been way too busy (& lazy)
to update the site on a more frequent basis so
today is catch-up day.
April Meet:
The
1st annual HR8C meet in April was a rainout,
but an excellent time non-the-less. We had
Dave (n son Ted) Louisville, KY and John (n
wife) from Lynchburg, VA in attendance and had
a total of 8 8's show up on day when pending
doom was obviously about to happen as far as
the weather was concerned! We all went for a
rain soaked spirited drive through the
Sandbridge, Pungo & Blackwater areas of
Virginia Beach. Though wet, it was very fun.
We got a handful of very unique images due to
the rain. CLICK HERE
to check out the meet photos.
May Meet:
The all Rotary Meet was a very laid-back and
relaxing meet. A new 8 member David (ACT)
attended with his sleek black 8 that he just
acquired about a month before. David also told
me just the other day that he talked one of
his buds into the 8... so be on the look-out
for another 8 in the HR8C fold. Some sweet 7's
we in attendance and a really bad-ass Cosmo.
There will be some more of these meets
through-out the year. I will do my best to
keep ya posted...

Major Horsepower Upgrades!
I have been working on Pettit Racings
website...
www.pettitracing.com. Last week I flew
down to West Palm Beach, FL to get a feel for
the company as well as get ready for some
major updates to their site. Cam, Jeff, Bob,
Kandy, JR, Moon and the one cat that was
working on their Race 8 (sorry man... don't
know I ever got your name) were a very cool
bunch of people! Now... I was givin some
inside info and was taken for a ride in Moon's
Pettit TwinScrew SuperCharged "AUTOMATIC" <--
You just do not know, 8! Moon's blower has
over 12K miles on it with no failures or
problems at all. He is running a fully stock
exhaust, cat and so on. I cannot even get into
how incredible this HP gain was, especially in
the low end torque where we need it the
most... and this was in a AT fellas! With that
being said, the 6 speed MT's should gain even
higher results. Cam n crew have been
re-tinkering with this blower for over a year
now and have it sized down to where you can
even keep all the engine bay covers installed
with just some slight modifications to make em'
fit. They are ready for release but are
looking at the perfect EMS for the blower.
They have been using the Greddy E-Manage, but
are now looking at (2) other EMS's with the
Interceptor-X EMS being the most promising in
my opinion. As I stated earlier... the blower
and intake is not the issue with the release
date, it is the EMS work that is holding up
the release. Pettit wants to be sure they
release a perfectly married system. Quality
1st kinda attitude they have out there. If I
had to guess I would say no more than 6 weeks
and it will hit the market.
Also, something to note: Moon's SC AT is only
pumping 5-6.5 PSI. Just imagine where this
could go. And yes... I will be buying a SC as
soon as it is released!

Rafael Santiago. He is going to make sure they
get sent out to other 8 owners in the area. I
also met briefly Phil (I think that was his
name), The GM of
Hall. They are very excited about our Club
and as we grow I am hoping
Hall can become involved with our events.
It was shared that
Hall will be remodeling soon and the Miata
meets may need a new home for a while during
this process. I am hoping that we can have the
8 crew hang with them for a bit. I will be
contacting the Miata Club President within the

Brian had a sweet Black 8 with a nice

I have set the next HR8C meet for August the
27th. I sure hope more of you can make plans
to make it out to this one! On the agenda for
this meet is a drive through the back roads to
Elizabeth City, NC. Once there we will hang
for about an hour and then break up and head
our own ways when we hit the VA border. I am
hoping to hit the road by about 5:30. If we
can have enough members attend this meet we
will make sure all the details are hammered
out. I do need more participation and input
from our members though. So email me to let me
know if you will attend.

offer our club a group discount if we purchase
a quantity or an item at one time. I have a
couple of items that I desire for my 8, but
cannot see paying as much as the suggested
retail requests. The two items I would like to
try this program with are as follows...
1.)
Painted & Carbon Fiber Eyelids from
one of these two companies (Evo-R,
A company out of NY or R-Magic, A well
known company from Japan that manufactures JDM
parts). This part Retails from about
$110-$150.
2.)
Hood Dampers from one of these two
companies (Tein,
A well known company that manufactures sport
suspensions or Auto Exe Another well
known company from Japan that manufactures JDM
parts). This part Retails from about
$130-$275.
Please let me know if any member would be
interested in signing on to this group
purchase program. If there are other items or
manufactures that several members would like
to try and make a group purchase from, let me
know as well so I can get the ball rolling. |

The 7's came out in very strong force. Calvin,

very end along with Nick and myself. It was
great time. 3rd Gen FDs seem to rule the

Though it was a pretty good turnout... I was
hoping a few more of our 8's could have made

For the next HRMRCC meet we are looking at

0003559 Dealer Repair Information:
Rust can be seen on the brake rotor hub area
when looking between the wheel spokes. The
rust is most visible on vehicles equipped with
17" chrome wheels.
1. Remove rust from hub(s) by sanding.
2. Clean/prep hub surface for primer.
3. Mask off brake rotor area.
4. Apply primer around entire hub area.
5. Once primer dries, apply a heat type silver
paint to the affected area to repair the
vehicle.
Note: Replace the rotor(s) only if the
affected area cannot be repaired enough to
satisfy the customer.
The dealer has to look it up as MRI# 0003559
in their computer.

1st ever Hampton Roads RX-8 Club Meet.
Date:
June 25th
The meet turned out nice. It was small with
only 4 8's attending, but it was a great time.
Thanks to Pat, Thurman & Karen & John for
showing up. Hope you all had a good time and
will come out again. Please try to find other
8's and bring them with you!!!

2006 RX-8 Spied!
Well, not really. It does seem as if Mazda has
some redesign for a good portion of their
line-up, but as of yet still no word on the
RX-8. The Miata with its new badge (MX-5) will
now steal a few design elements from our
beloved 8. A new ride named the "Crossover"
should be released in 06 and is designed to
compete with the new Scion xB. Also, the new
Mazda 5 will be released. A cross between the
MPV and the 6. Designed to look sporty but
haul 6 butts.

2007 Mazda RX-7!
It has been rumored that the RX-7 will be
brought back to life soon. On the drawing
board is a shortened, lighter coupe boasting
280-330 hp. If this happens we had all better
start saving now. Still no concept photos to
be found, but my guess is she will be modeled
after the 3rd Generation 7. |
